Cooling Performance
Our test kit is fairly indicative of the kind of PC that most people will be opting for and we carried out tests in an enclosed TV cabinet and in the open to replicate the situations the case may find itself in - ie mounted behind a monitor or in an enclosed space.
We tested with both sustained 100 per cent CPU load using Prime95 and while streaming HD content on Netflix (usually between 20-40 per cent load) to give you some idea as to the impact these situations will have given the case is passively-cooled.
We recorded the CPU temperature using
Core Temp and recorded the results once the temperature had plateaued. The graph below shows the 'open' results in blue while the 'enclosed' results are shown in red.
Our test kit comprised the following:
- 128GB Intel SSD 525 Series mSATA SSD
- 4GB SODIMM RAM
- Intel BLKDC53427RKE motherboard
-
Akasa Newton V (enclosed)
-
Akasa Newton V (open)
-
Akasa Newton V (HD Video Playback, enclosed)
-
Akasa Newton V (HD Video Playback, open)
°C, lower is better
